Cookie notice

AFRIPEI uses a small set of cookies to keep a signed-in session safe. There are no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies on afripei.co.tz, the docs, or the portals. The full policy is on the privacy policy page.

Cookies we set

• afripei_session. HTTP-only. It is the signed-in session for the merchant portal or the owner portal. A script on the page cannot read it. A merchant session lasts up to 12 hours and ends sooner if it is left idle. The owner portal ends an idle session sooner than the merchant portal.
• afripei_csrf. A token the page can read so a form can send X-CSRF-Token. It stops another site from submitting a signed-in action. It is set with the session and cleared on sign-out.

The public marketing pages and the docs do not need either cookie. A checkout page does not sign you in and does not set them. Paying does not create an account.

What we do not set

We do not set cookies to follow you across other sites, to measure an ad, or to build a profile of payment phones. Remembering an email on the merchant sign-in screen, when you ask to stay remembered, is stored in the browser’s local storage on that device. The password is not stored there.

How to remove them

Sign out of the portal. That clears both cookies. You can also remove them in the browser. Without the session cookie you are signed out. The ledger, the verification files, and the audit log are not stored in the cookie, so clearing cookies does not delete a payment.
